WORCESTER Wolves have completed their second major signing in the space of a week with the capture of Lithuanian Marius Zemaitis.

The University of Worcester-based side have been trailing the 6ft 1ins guard for a fortnight and he will arrive in the country on Wednesday.

Zemaitis will link up with his new colleagues for training on Thursday and is set to make his Wolves' debut at home against Leicester Riders on November 18.

Director of basketball Mick Donovan said: "We first heard about Marius from one of our scouts in Lithuania and have been trying to bring him to Worcester for the past two weeks.

"He will bring great experience and leadership to the team."

Zemaitis will be helped to settle into the area by fellow Lithuanian Valdas Urbonavicius, who is already a popular figure with Wolves.

Club chairman Roger Clarke said: "We have been pleased with Valdas since his arrival and it will be good for him to have a fellow Lithuanian on board."

Zemaitis moves to the BBL on the back of four successful seasons playing for Cuxhaven Bas-Cats in Germany, captaining the team from point guard for the last three years.

His leadership was a key factor in the club's rise from Regional League Division One to Division Two of the German Federal League.

While playing for the Bas-Cats, he also studied at the University of Bremerhaven.

He left the club in June to return to his native Lithuania.

Wolves head coach Josh Cooprider said: "Marius is a very good all-round guard and he comes very highly recommended from people we trust in Lithuania.

"He excelled in Germany and he is just what we need at this present time for the Wolves. We are very excited about his arrival."

In the 2005-06 season, Zemaitis, 28, played an average of 32 minutes per game, scoring 10.4 points, making 3.7 assists and 1.1 steals per game as well as taking 4.1 rebounds per game.

Wolves head to Glasgow to take on the Scottish Rocks in the BBL on Sunday (5pm).
