IYSEDEN Christie's injurytime penalty spared Kidderminster Harriers' blushes as they salvaged a 2-2 draw at home to Forest green Rovers.

Alex Meechan put the Gloucestershire side ahead before Christie, who is on loan from Rochdale, scored his first goal of the afternoon.

With the game seemingly set to be 1-1 at the interval, Simon Clist smashed a shot home to give the visitors the edge. However, in the 92nd minute, referee Phil Gibbs adjudged Andy White had been fouled in the area and Christie stepped up to snatch a point. Below-par Harriers were lucky to get something out of the match, which was destined to be Rovers' first away win since September 2005 until Christie intervened.

Craig Nelthorpe had Harriers' first opportunity when put clean through on goal by Simon Russell, but the on-loan Doncaster wide-man held onto the ball too long and goalkeeper Steve Williams was able to gather.

Forest Green broke the deadlock in a goalmouth scramble on 16 minutes when the ball found its way to the feet of Meechan, who made no mistake in crashing home with a fine finish.

Seven minutes later, Russell and Reuben Reid linked up to great effect to carve out a chance which Christie headed home at the back post.

Another goalmouth scramble on the verge of half-time resulted in the visitors regaining the lead through Clist.

Harriers improved and looked the better side in the second-half and they were able to get forward more with Forest Green content to keep men behind the ball.

Substitute White had an effort cleared off the line on 72 minutes after Mark Creighton's shot was saved, while Michael Blackwood's woeful effort five minutes from time looked to have been Harriers' last chance.

That was until Gibbs gave the home side an injury-time lifeline which Christie grabbed with both hands.
