STRIKER Andy Williams' two fine strikes kept the Bulls handily placed in eighth place in League Two.

The Bulls' excellent win at their highly-fancied West Country rivals was their third in succession in a run which has seen them soar up the table.

Hereford were able to announce an unchanged side but, despite the confidence brought by the two previous wins, were under the cosh from the determined home team in the early stages.

On six minutes, from Swindon's first corner of the match, Jerel Ifil powered in a header from an Aaron Brown cross but, not for the first or last time, John Eustace was perfectly placed and booted the ball away from the goal-line.

Swindon continued to dominate and piled the pressure on the Hereford defence.

Michael Pook's shot was comfortably saved by Wayne Brown and Jack Smith sent a drive flashing wide before Brown was in the action again, scrambling across the goalmouth to gather an acrobatic effort from Ifil.

Swindon's continual attacking eventually brought its reward after 32 minutes but the goal was not without controversy.

Eustace appeared to be fouled in the build-up play which ended with Pook crossing the ball for Roberts to nip in front of Phil Gulliver to head home from close range.

After what had gone before, it seemed entirely possible that this would open the floodgates but, instead, Hereford staged a superb fightback and were level within three minutes.

Williams' neat lay-off in midfield sent Stuart Fleetwood racing away on the left while Williams himself kept running into the middle where he was perfectly placed to receive the cross and smash an unstoppable shot past Andy Lonergan.

Just minutes later, however, the goalkeeper made his mark with a fine save from Eustace's volley.

With Hereford now on top, skipper Tamika Mkandawire sent a header flashing just inches over from Eustace's perfectly-delivered corner on the stroke of half-time.

Williams was just inches from converting a fine cross from Alex Jeannin as Hereford started the second period brightly. But Swindon swiftly hit back and went on to have much the better of the next phase.

Lee Peacock's flicked header from a Roberts cross drifted wide before Rob Purdie came to Hereford's rescue, clearing superbly off the line when Brown seemed certain to profit from another fine Roberts run. Hereford continued to defend in an assured manner and protected 'keeper Brown well before a swift break sealed the points.

Neil MacKenzie's long pass was controlled expertly by Williams and he slipped past Smith before hammering a shot under Lonergan and into the net.
