WARRIORS fly-half Andy Goode has revealed he is keen to see out his playing career with the Sixways club.

The former England number 10, pictured left, is out of contract at the end of this season, but there is a mutual eagerness between player and club to extend what is approaching three years in Gold and Blue.

The 32-year-old ex-Leicester Tigers and Brive play-maker, who won 17 caps for his country, feels he can play on at the top level until his is 35 and is hoping that will be with Worcester.

He said: “I am enjoying my rugby and my time here – it’s a great club and the fans are good to me. I’d definitely like to see out my career here. I’ve done quite a lot of travelling before I came to Worcester and I am fairly settled now.

“It’s one of those things, though, it has to be right for every party. I’d like to continue the journey I started here to try and help the vision of the likes of Cecil Duckworth, Dave Allen and Bill Bolsover in getting the club into the Heineken Cup.

“I’ve had a thoroughly enjoyable two-and-a-half years here and I’d like to continue, but there is still a lot of rugby to be played and decisions to be made. We’ll have to see what happens.

“My body feels great and I think I can keep going. I’m 32 now and I’m sure I’ve still got another three years left in me.”

As well as Goode, fellow stand-off Joe Carlisle, who it was revealed yesterday has been sidelined for four to six weeks with a fractured ankle, would be a free agent next summer, but Warriors boss Hill is hoping to retain both players on new deals.

The Sixways head coach added: “I am very happy with my two 10s, but I haven’t spoken to them about new contracts just yet, so I can’t say too much. We will be talking to them very shortly, though, and we will be looking to retain both of them.”

Carlisle’s injury coincides with the return to training of fly-half Danny Gray, who has not featured this season since undergoing shoulder surgery in the summer.

However, the former Bristol outside-half won’t be match-fit for tomorrow’s Amlin Challenge Cup clash with Perpignan at Sixways (7.45pm), so versatile back Josh Matavesi will cover for Goode at 10.

Meanwhile, prop Euan Murray has been registered for European competition and will start his first game for Warriors against the French Top 14 outfit with John Andress, who is nursing a knee injury, moving to the bench.

Worcester loosehead Matt Mullan, who also has a knee problem, is set to be out of action until at least the Leicester Tigers game on January 4.
