WARRIORS are capable of winning in France next weekend to keep their Euro dream alive, according to all-action flanker Matt Kvesic.

The England Saxons back-rower put in a man-of-the-match display in Thursday night’s 22-21 Amlin Challenge Cup victory over pool two qualification rivals Perpignan.

The impressive 20-year-old, a graduate from the Sixways academy system, says there is belief in the squad that they can travel to the south of France for next Saturday’s return match at the Stade Aimé Giral and get a crucial result.

Kvesic, who made his 50th Warriors appearance on Thursday, said: “It will be massively different in France next weekend, but we will work hard leading up to it and focus on our own game.

“We’ve been playing well and we’ve strung a few good performances together, so we’ll be confident of getting something out there.

“The boys dug in and we were really pleased to get the win. We knew they’d be a tough side but the lads played well for the full 80 minutes. Perpignan stayed close to us but we got the win and that’s the most important thing.

“The weather was obviously frustrating for both sides as we both like to play with ball in hand but we adapted well and everyone put in a massive shift.”

Meanwhile, Euan Murray was delighted to mark his Warriors home debut with the impressive scalp of the French Top 14 outfit.

The Scotland international caught the eye with a dominant scrummaging display, coming out on top in his battle with Tongan loosehead Sona Taumalolo, who was sin-binned for persistently collapsing the scrum.

Murray said: “Our forward pack held their own against a big physical team and the likes of Matt, James Percival and Ed Shervington were outstanding.

“I enjoyed my debut. I was given a nice Scottish welcome with the weather and it was great to get the win.

“We’ve been training in these conditions all week and we've been working hard on scrums and mauls. At times it was dry and the next minute it was pouring with rain so it was a bit difficult."

He added: “We made it difficult for ourselves at times with yellow cards, but it was good that we stuck together and came back to get the victory.

“It’s going to be a difficult match next week. I don’t know what their side will be like, but it won’t change too much because they put out a strong side with a lot of internationals at Sixways.”
