HE might only have played four games this season but Jamille Matt is likely to be hot property when the transfer window opens next month.

The Kidderminster Harriers striker, who spent nine months on the sidelines due to issues surrounding his work permit, has scored four goals since his return, including a hat-trick in last Saturday’s 3-2 win against Newport County.

Having been on the radar of several Football League clubs last term, Matt is once again in the spotlight.

Northampton Town, who made three bids for Harriers’ star asset 12 months ago, have watched him in recent weeks, while West Bromwich Albion and Sheffield United are also believed to be admirers.

Matt is out of contract next summer and there is every possibility clubs may make their move during the January window.

Harriers, however, will want to hold on to their player, who will be looking to continue his good form in today’s FA Trophy second-round match at Bromley (3pm).

Assistant manager Gary Whild is hoping the efforts the club made during Matt’s dealings with the UK Border Agency will play a part in any decision on his future.

He said: “I think Jamille has already made it clear he’s very grateful for all the support he received during a very difficult period in his life.”
