ASSISTANT manager Matt Gardiner was delighted to see Worcester City return to winning ways against Bradford Park Avenue.

In the build-up to Saturday’s 2-0 win at St George’s Lane, City put the sole focus on picking up three points and not worrying about their league position following matches against their play-off rivals.

The outcome was a first win and clean sheet since beating Hinckley United 5-0 on November 3.

“When we came into this little run of games we knew it was going to be tough,” Gardiner said. “We were probably a couple of points behind where we thought we were going to be and had played some good teams in the division.

“Bradford are one of them but sometimes it’s nice to get a result, three points and a clean sheet.

“Sometimes you have just got to concentrate on that and, after the run we’ve had, it was really pleasing to do that.”

Greg Mills continued his good run of form with a third goal in four games as well as providing the free-kick for Jacob Rowe’s opener.

“A special mention for Greg, that’s three goals in four for him plus assists as well and you can see his work-rate off the ball,” Gardiner added.

“We worked on the set-pieces last Thursday and on Greg’s delivery so it’s paid off. I thought he did well.”
