- GOOD evening and welcome to the impressive Salford City Stadium where Worcester Warriors will be taking on Sale Sharks (8pm).
- The hosts have had a torrid season and find themselves rock bottom of the Aviva Premiership table, so will be desperate to end 2012 on a high note.
- Warriors beat London Welsh 13-6 last time out and will be looking to keep their momentum going with a victory that would keep their push for a top-six place firmly on track.
10:27pm
Thanks for following the blog tonight - there will be a full match report in tomorrow's Worcester News.
Then in Monday's eight-page sports pull-out there will be my comment piece, player ratings, stats and reaction.
10:26pm
Fair to say there are some annoyed Warriors fans out there tonight. Several even calling for Richard Hill to go.
I wouldn't go that far, but the woeful away record has to improve and soon.

FULL-TIME: A disappointing defeat for Warriors at rock-bottom Sale Sharks, who ran out 33-27 winners.
9:53pm
Goode opts to put a penalty out to ensure Warriors claim a losing bonus point.
9:52pm
Times up and Warriors have a scrum in their own 22.
9:51pm
Warriors run from deep and are hit for crossing with one minute left. Cipriani goes for the corner as Sale hunt a try bonus point.
9:50pm
TRY Warriors! The visitors are back into losing bonus point territory as Aleki Lutui burrows over after a penalty to touch. Goode misses the conversion.

9:47pm
Cipriani, who has kicked excellently tonight, lands another penalty for Sale.
Sale 33-22 Warriors
9:42pm
Sale looking for the try bonus point, take a quick tap penalty and Cueto grubbers the ball to the corner.
9:41pm
Looks like this game has got away from Warriors now. Ceri Jones hit for holding on on the Sale 22 and the hosts clear.
9:39pm
Warriors out of losing bonus point range as Cipriani lands another penalty after Sam Betty was penalised at the breakdown.
Sale 30-22 Warriors
9:35pm
Goode misses a penalty after Jonny Arr was illegally taken out.
Sale 27-22 Warriors
9:29pm
Warriors penalised for obstruction to huge cheers from the home fans.
9:28pm
Another penalty to Warriors at the line-out.
9:27pm
Warriors win a penalty from the re-start - certainly an end-to-end game here! Goode puts the ball into the corner.
9:27pm
TRY Sale! Despite being a man down, Sale steal the ball off Worcester and work an overlap with Richie Gray's superb off-load out of the tackle to Richie Vernon, who sends Mark Cueto over to become the Premiership's equal-highest try-scorer.
Cipriani rubs salt into Warriors' wounds with the conversion.
Sale 27-22 Warriors
9:24pm
Ice-cool Goode drills the ball home to edge Warriors back in front.
Sale 20-22 Warriors
9:23pm
Taulava back to his feet after lengthy treatment. Should be OK to continue. Goode lining up the posts from the 10m line.
9:21pm
Nikki Walker is back on and now Sale are down to 14 men as replacement Fraser McKenzie is yellow-carded for a high-tackle on Semisi Taulava.
9:20pm
Chance for Warriors to go back ahead, but Goode's long-range effort is just wide.
9:18pm
A fine strike from the fly-half puts Sale ahead for the first time in the game.
Sale 20-19 Warriors

9:15pm
Warriors win a penalty at the scrum and Goode is able to clear to touch inside the 10m line.
9:14pm
Let-off for Warriors as Cipriani unlocks the Worcester defence, before Johnny leota looks to go himself when he had players outside. The ball finally went to Mark Cueto, but he fumbled it forward.
9:12pm
Josh Matavesi limps off to be replaced by Jon Clarke.
9:08pm
Cipriani goes for goal this time and strokes the ball home.
Sale 17-19 Warriors
9:08pm
Penalty to Sale and ANOTHER yellow card for Warriors as Nikki Walker is binned for a deliberate knock-on. Tough call on the Scotsman, that.
9:06pm
Even with the wind behind, Cipriani kicks for the corner instead of the posts after Warriors were penalised for a push.
9:02pm
Andy Goode fires the ball through the uprights.
Sale 14-19 Warriors
9:01pm
Good start to the half for Worcester - penalty in front of the posts as Sale fail to release as they try to run out of defence.
9:00pm
The players are back out - can Warriors hang on for what would be an important victory?
8:59pm
@tomguestWN sounds like we were playing well, costly card for Pennell #COYW

RT @waddayaknow: @WorcsWarriors COME ON YOU WORCESTER BOYS!!!!!
— @braddersatbbc 28 December 2012
8:45pm
Warriors win the scrum and Paul Hodgson runs the ball into touch to bring the half-time whistle.
Entertaining first 40 minutes here in Salford; Warriors lead 16-14 at the break.
8:45pm
Another good spell for Sale as they probe the Warriors 22, but it ends with a knock-on. Pennell returns from the sin-bin too.
8:42pm
TRY Sale! The gamble pays off as James Gaskell is on the end of a huge overlap to cruise over the line after the Warriors defenders had been sucked in on the far side of the field.
Cipriani confidently strokes over the conversion in tricky conditions to make it a two-point game again.
Sale 14-16 Warriors
8:39pm
Penalty to Sale from inside the Warriors 10m line and Cipriani still persists with going to touch. Bold strategy from the hosts.

@tomguestWN took Barnes long enough to yellow card a Warrior how long till the next sin binning #COYW
— @padsybear1 28 December 2012
8:34pm
Chris Pennell yellow-carded for not rolling away, Sale agains go for the corner, but then lose the line-out. Big period through to half-time for Warriors now.
8:31pm

TRY Sale! From the line-out, the Sharks batter their way up to the Warriors line, before second row Richie Gray crashes over. Cipriani adds the extra points.
Sale 7-9 Warriors
8:22pm
Cipriani turns down the posts to kick to the corner again. Sale are kicking into a stiff breeze, though. Ceri Jones was penalised for not rolling away.
8:18pm
Nikki Walker close to his first Worcester try, but he is just bundled into touch by the flag. The chance came after a break from Semisi Taulava from a line-out drive and a carry from Paul Hodgson.
8:17pm
Sale have committed five penalties already in less than 20 minutes, with the latest coming on their own scrum put-in when well-placed in the Warriors half.
8:16pm
Ironic cheers from the home fans as Danny Cipriani, whose defensive abilities have been questioned recently, chases his own up-and-under and makes a tackle on Semisi Taulava.
8:14pm
No mistake from Goode, who slots his third penalty of the game.
Sale 0-9 Warriors
8:13pm
Another kickable penalty for Warriors as James Gaskell fails to release Matt Kvesic in the tackle after a strong drive from the Worcester openside.
8:12pm
A lovely strike from Goodey, who becomes Warriors new leading points-scorer in the professional era with 727.

Chance for Andy Goode to break the record as Sale are hit for pulling down a Warriors driving maul.
8:09pm
More good defence from Warriors forces Sale to infringe on the floor.
8:09pm
It came to nothing though as Sale lost their line-out. They are attacking the Warriors 22 again now though.

8:05pm
Fly-half Goode moves to within two points of equalling Shane Drahm's record points total.
Sale 0-3 Warriors

Andy Goode charged down in his own 22, but recovers and finds Chris Pennell, who makes a good touch.
