WORCESTER City have sold around 1,700 tickets for the last league game at St George’s Lane — but have warned fans to purchase theirs as soon as possible.

The Blue Square Bet North match against champions-elect Chester on Saturday, April 27, will mark the end of 108 years of league football at the ground.

Play-off-chasing City have sold in the region of 1,100 to their own supporters as well as the 672 that have been allocated to table-topping Chester.

Tickets remain on sale but Chester have requested up to 2,000 in total so seem likely to be given more if Worcester fans don’t snap them up.

City director Rich Widdowson said: “There are plenty of tickets available but there will be a cut-off date (yet to be set) when we will send any others to Chester.

“At the moment for anyone who wants to go, there’s a ticket there for them.

“If people want to go to the game they need to get a ticket because they won’t be there for much longer.”

Capacity at the Lane is 4,523 and City, who look set to ground-share with Kidderminster Harriers next season, want a full house to mark the showpiece occasion.

Tickets cost £14 and £10 respectively for adults and concessions to sit and £12 and £8 to stand.

It’s £7 and £5 to sit and stand for those aged 16 to 21 and £5 and £3 for under 16s.

Season ticket holders can collect theirs during office hours with voucher number 21.
