Worcester trio earn England selection

A TRIO of Worcester players have been included in head coach Barry Maddocks’ England squad for round two of the Women’s Sevens World Series (WSWS) next month.

Heather Fisher, Kat Merchant and Jo Watmore will all travel to Houston, Texas, as part of the 17-strong training squad that are preparing for the Rugby World Cup Sevens in Moscow in June.

England head into round two of the WSWS, which takes place on February 1 and 2, on the back of a seventh-place finish in Dubai after fielding a young side for the opener.

This time around England have more experience but they face a tough start after being drawn against New Zealand, the Netherlands and Trinidad and Tobago in their pool.
