Can we return to Fortress Lane?

Can we return to Fortress Lane? Can we return to Fortress Lane?

CAN somebody please tell me what has happened to Worcester City’s home form?

Following last Saturday’s 3-2 defeat to Histon, this is something that is threatening to derail their play-off push.

St George’s Lane was the stereotypical ‘fortress’ at the start of the season.

Now the club are in danger of becoming a bit of soft touch on their own patch.

As if to prove the point, Carl Heeley’s team have won five Blue Square Bet North matches this term, but four of those came before mid-September.

The other, against Bradford Park Avenue, was in December.

In fact, that success is the only time in nine league games they have won at the Lane.

Which is a surprising statistic given they are still knocking on the door of the top-five.

With all this in mind, February is now shaping up to be a pivotal month as far as City’s home form goes.

They have three matches at the Lane in the next calendar month, starting against Vauxhall Motors on Saturday.

It is one they could really do with taking advantage of to give their play-off hopes a boost.

This, after all, is the last season at the ground.

It would be great if City could rediscover the form that made them such dangerous opponent at the start of this historic campaign.

Steve

Next Monday's game against Gainsborough will NOT take place.

It has to be re-arranged due to Gainsborough playing Barrow in the FA Trophy.

No new date has yet been set.
