WORCESTER cricket administrator Bill Tansell has been elected chairman of the Midlands Club Cricket Conference.

He was voted in at the conference’s annual general meeting in succession to Allan Neal from Old Hill who has stepped down after 14 years in the post and has now become the conference’s president-elect.

Tansell has recently completed a 12-month stint as president of the Birmingham and District Premier Cricket League.

The conference has recently announced its annual award winners and among them was Worcester Nomads all-rounder Liam O’Driscoll who has been named as one of the Conference Association’s cricketers of the year.

O’Driscoll had a successful season in 2012, helping Nomads win the Worcestershire League Division One title and gaining promotion to the Birmingham League for the first time in the club’s history.

O’Driscoll, who also won the Fearnley Factory Shop-sponsored Worcester News player of the year award, will receive his honour at the annual dinner next month.
