GLOUCESTER BOUND: Matt Kvesic.
WARRIORS flanker Matt Kvesic’s summer move to local rivals Gloucester has today been confirmed by the Kingsholm club.
Your Worcester News exclusively revealed on Friday, January 25 that the 20-year-old back-rower, who has this week been training with England’s Six Nations squad, had opted to quit Warriors.
Highly-rated Kvesic, who was last night released from the England training camp to join up with Worcester ahead of Saturday’s Aviva Premiership trip to Bath (2.15pm), was out of contract at the end of this season and has decided his future lies away from Sixways.
The Warriors academy graduate is one of the most promising young talents in English club rugby and his departure is a major blow for Worcester.
Gloucester director of rugby Nigel Davies said: "Matt's a quality player - one we've admired for some time - and we're delighted that he's decided to commit to Gloucester.
"He's not yet 21, but already has considerable experience at Premiership level. The fact that England have called him up to train with them shows how much they think of him.
"He's a true openside, who does the fetching and gathering and acts as a link between backs and forwards. We're looking forward to him arriving in the summer."
Kvesic himself confirmed that it's not been an easy decision, but he feels that the move down the M5 is the right one for him.
"Worcester Warriors is all I've known to date and I'll always be grateful to them for helping me achieve what I have in the game so far. The decision to leave has been a tough one to arrive at.
"However, when I spoke to Nigel and he outlined Gloucester's plans for the future and spoke about the squad he is assembling and where I would fit in, I was excited about the prospect and felt Gloucester would be the right place for me to help take my game to the next level.
"For the rest of the season though, I'm a Worcester player and will continue to give 100 per cent every time I pull on the shirt to help us finish the season as strongly as possible."

Can't blame the lad for getting out of a dead end job to better himself and further his career.
Not the first and won't be the last.
The Warriors hype has worn too thin.

He's only 20, which is unbelievably young for a rugby player, let alone a forward and has just broken into the England squad as a result of the time, money and commitment invested in him by Worcester, yet he's treated Worcester as if he's bigger than them and jumped ship to the cherry & sh***s at the first chance. They're not even in the Heineken Cup!

If the Warriors hype has worn thin don't take an interest. Simple.

Having spent what probably amounts to thousands of pounds over the last 10 years following Worcester all over the UK and Europe I'm pretty much sure I'm entitled to comment on the poor state of affairs and the lack of progress the club have made.
When I refer to dead end job I refer to his future prospects if he stays with Worcester. Pretty much sure Glos have produced more international players than us and I'm sure Matt will go on to be a much better player for his timely move. Remember Mr Narraway, Mr Kitchener, Mr Wood etc etc. There must be some truth in what I say !

Narraway never played for Worcester, he joined Gloucester after they had just won the league and we were in the championship, a silly comparison.
With the other 2 (and add Mullan and Benjamin in there as well) they all repaid us. Benjamin has got 123 caps with us, Kitchener and Wood have got over 60 caps each, whilst Mullan has 40 (but 8 years) and counting. Kvesic has only 10 and he's off.
Pathetic. Judas.

Calling him a Judas is just sour grapes.
You assumed I had no interest... I was merly pointing out that I have had plenty as have many other supporters.

I wonder if Marcel Garvey was branded Judas when he left Glaws for Sixways ?

Nobody has a clue what Kvesic has been offered, Gloucester may have offered him more than us or less, but no player is bigger than the club.
I will reiterate. Kvesic has given us 10 games so far- far, far, far less than any other of the mentioned players gave us. He has jumped ship to our biggest rivals at the first opportunity. Judas.

Here endeth my 'testimony'
By the way if you travel first and business you dont have to endure the struggle with the plebs , I think that the board and coach aspire to travel 'first ' on a ryanair flight !

That said it does appear some people can't or won't respect other peoples opinions and when they differ from theirs go into attack mode.
You only have to read the Fans Forum on the WRFC Website to see some of the the forthright table banging and contributor slap downs that go on.. Seems some people only like to transmit their own monologue.

The public are entitled to their view and should not be vilified should they be prepared to air their views . It is this intimidation that creates divisions within the club and society in general . I have yet to see a response from the board after 'Toms' last article about Hills future . They are probably hoping that the issues will go away with the announcement of the 2 Argentinean signings . I can assure you it wont even if they manage to win 2 or 3 games before the seasons end . The woeful performances are etched upon the supporters minds and it will take nothing less than a big shake-up of the coaches and management before confidence returns to the squad and supporters alike .

Kitch also played for the Saxons whilst we were in the Championship. Two years with Leicester and he is still only playing for the Saxons.
Tom Wood also played with the Saxons whilst with us and would probably have played for the full England team if he had stayed.
Matt Mullan has also played for the full England team whilst at Worcester and Pat Sanderson captained England whilst a Worcester player.
All this about having to leave the club to achieve their ambitions of playing at the highest level is a load of hogwash.
And young players leaving is not all down to Hill. Hartley, Percival, Rae and Easter left under John Brain. Matt Cox and Tom Wood left under Ruddock. It is part and parcel of clubs like us, Leeds, Falcons, and Irish that the bigger clubs poach our best youngsters. Just wait and see what happens to Sale if they get relegated.
