TOMORROW’S British Basketball League Trophy quarter-final against Newcastle Eagles (7.30pm) is the biggest game of the season so far for Worcester Wolves.

It’s a one-off match and an opportunity to get to a semi-final of a competition, which is always exciting.

The ultimate aim for Wolves is to win some silverware and I don’t think we’re far off achieving that.

It might be this year with a bit of luck but if we don’t get to the latter stages you don’t give yourself any chance.

Right now, we have that chance so we are making progress. In that respect, it’s a massive game for us.

We’ve been close to finals in the past but you also need a bit of luck with the draw. The side of the draw we’re on couldn’t be any tougher because if we beat Newcastle we then face Leicester, and they are the number one and two sides in the league at the moment.

The other half of the draw doesn’t look anywhere near as strong but if you’re going to win a competition you have to go through the best sides.

It’s a tough challenge going up to Newcastle to try and beat them on their own floor but we will be prepared and looking forward to the game.

We’ve always gone pretty close against them, we seem to match up well with them, and when we met at the University of Worcester in the BBL Championship in November we managed to win 88-73.

They know we’re going to be tough and vice versa so on the day it’s going to be a matter of who performs the best.

When we beat them here we played exceptionally well, our defence was very tough and we shut down their key players.

Offensively, we moved the ball well and every player did their job to enable us to win that game. I’ll be looking for that sort of performance again this weekend.

It was also good to see Stan Ocitti named in the BBL team of the week for the second time this season following his efforts in the victory at Manchester Giants.

I think Stan has been our unsung hero because he consistently scores points and wins rebounds. I’m surprised that this is only the second time he’s made the team.
