Prezzie-Blue in reckoning for Worcester Wolves Trophy return
WORCESTER Wolves expect to have Sherrad Prezzie-Blue back in their ranks for tomorrow’s British Basketball League Trophy showdown at Newcastle Eagles (7.30pm).
A semi-final spot is on the line when Wolves, fresh from their 88-75 victory at Manchester Giants last week, take on the Championship leaders at the Metro Radio Arena.
Prezzie-Blue sat out the Manchester match, as well as the 97-91 overtime defeat to Surrey Heat last month, because of a knee injury but is on the road to recovery.
The American point guard was due to resume training with the squad this week and head coach Paul James is confident of having his playmaker available again.
“We are taking the advice of the physio and he went to see a specialist and was advised to take a few days off to let the swelling go completely down,” he said. “But he’s good to start training and is likely to be fit.”
Wolves booked their place in the BBL Trophy quarter-finals with a 90-77 win against Plymouth Raiders at the University of Worcester at the end of 2012 and are keen to take a step closer to some silverware.
Meanwhile, Wolves are offering a discount for fans wanting to attend next week’s home double-header.
Worcester host Mersey Tigers on Friday (7.30pm) and London Lions, a rearranged match, the day after at 7pm.
It is £15 for adults to watch both games or £10 for children. A voucher can be collected at the ticket desk before the Tigers clash.
