Manager Carl Heeley praises players after third away win in a row
MANAGER Carl Heeley felt Worcester City’s hard work paid off as they recorded a third consecutive away victory.
City kept up their play-off push with success at Bower Fold and also exacted revenge for a 2-1 defeat to Celtic at St George’s Lane last October.
“It’s another good win against a very good side,” said Heeley.
“They are a full-time outfit and you can see that with the way they pass the ball.
“But they didn’t look like scoring against us and we looked a major threat and solid as a unit.
“The work-rate was immense and that’s all I can ask. A prerequisite is everybody works hard otherwise it makes it that little bit more difficult to win the game.
“They all did that on Saturday and have done many times this season. Generally speaking, that’s when we’ve had our better results.
“There have been times when things haven’t gone for us and we’ve been a little bit unfortunate like, the Stalybridge game at home because I thought we deserved to win then by a distance.
“We’ve set the record straight a little bit.”
Heeley also thought City were denied a certain second-half penalty when Glover appeared to be tackled from behind. He added: “Just before Danny scored, I don’t know how we didn’t get a penalty for the challenge on him.
“Then you start to question whether your dominance is going to turn into a goal but we kept being patient and got a thoroughly deserved win.”
