HEREFORD United manager Martin Foyle has called on his side to “scrap a win out” when they host Lincoln City tomorrow (3pm).

The Bulls are struggling at Edgar Street and last Tuesday’s 1-0 defeat to Wrexham stretched their run without a home victory to more than three months.

By contrast, they have not lost away in the Blue Square Bet Premier since going down 3-2 to the Imps on November 17, winning 2-0 at Braintree for their latest triumph last weekend.

The poor state of the Edgar Street pitch has certainly been a factor when it comes to results at home but Foyle knows his players need to adapt and not use it as an excuse.

He said: “The players are not playing badly, they are trying to do the right things on a very poor surface. We know what we are up against but we have got to scrap a win out.

“We are not doing a lot wrong at the moment.

“The majority of the play has been good and I can’t complain about it, apart from the final delivery.

“I spoke to a couple of fans on the way out after the Wrexham game and they thought we should have had six or seven more points on the board from our home games.

“We were terrific at Braintree last Saturday but four of the last five games have been at home and that’s been a hindrance.

“Hopefully, we can get this one out of the way with three points and then go on our travels again because we have got three matches away in a row.”

Striker Chris Sharp will look to add to his first Hereford United goal scored at Braintree Town, while centre-half Michael Townsend is still sidelined with a calf problem.

David Holdsworth’s Lincoln City lost 2-0 at Stockport County in mid-week and last Saturday’s 2-1 home win over Dartford was their first in all competitions since December 8.
