WINNING automatic promotion to the Football League remains in Kidderminster Harriers’ sights, says striker Anthony Malbon.

The Aggborough outfit are only eight points behind Blue Square Bet Premier leaders Grimsby Town heading into today’s match at Hyde (3pm).

Harriers have enjoyed a remarkable run of form since losing their first five games of the season and last Saturday’s 3-2 victory over Cambridge United was their fourth in five matches.

Malbon, who scored his fifth league goal of the season against the Us, is delighted with the progress being made and believes Harriers can aim even higher than their current fifth place.

The 21-year-old said: “I know we are eight points off the top but we aren’t looking below us, we’re looking above.

“That is the main thing, that is what the gaffer has been on about since we put this run together and it has bred confidence in the squad.

“We don’t want play-offs, we want to win the league. After the start we made and where we are now, why not?”

Malbon, signed by manager Steve Burr from Newcastle Town in January 2012, added: “Anything can happen but the minimum must be the play-offs.

“The gaffer has signed more players, so that creates more competition and that gives everyone a kick up the backside.”

Meanwhile, Kidderminster have rearranged the trip to Gateshead, postponed last Tuesday because of a waterlogged pitch, for Tuesday, March 5 (7.45pm).
