Sixways head coach Richard Hill calls on fans to stick with Worcester Warriors

Hill urges boo boys to keep the faith Hill urges boo boys to keep the faith

AUDIBLE boos rang out from sections of Sixways at the final whistle last Saturday, but head coach Richard Hill insists Warriors fans must keep the faith.

The former England scrum-half, who is under pressure to halt his side’s current run of poor form, admits he wasn’t sure if the cat-calls were aimed at his players or referee Greg Garner.

However, what he will be certain of is that his pack were out-muscled by Northampton Saints as Warriors once again tailed off to defeat in a match where they had competed well for the first 60 minutes.

The Sixways chief said: “I don’t know if the fans were booing the team or the referee at the end, but I can understand their frustrations.

“If this club wants to move on and become a top-six team it has got to change the way it plays and you have to go through some teething processes. It doesn’t come easy — this is a brutal league and there are some very good teams in it.

“To think you can just come and beat a quality side like Northampton is arrogant. You have to realise that these teams are very good and it takes a hell of a lot to beat them.

“I would hope a lot of Worcester supporters would have gone away disappointed with the result, but then actually look back and think there was some outstanding rugby.

“We had a good first-half and for the first 20 minutes of the second-half we played some superb rugby out there. A year ago you wouldn’t have seen Worcester with the same intent and the ability to play 15-man rugby.”

Hill added: “I thought some of the individual performances were outstanding — Errie Claassens, Josh Drauniniu, Jonny Arr and Andy Goode, as well as the forwards who were off-loading a lot, it was a terrific effort.

“We made more line-breaks in that game than I’ve seen us make in many Premiership matches, but we are not finishing them off. We have to keep persevering with that type of rugby, because the players enjoy it and we can’t afford to go back to basics.

“We have to keep playing with that intent and with ball-in-hand — eventually we will learn to finish off those line-breaks we are making.

“I don’t think we’re far off – the hardest thing is to make the line-breaks – we just need to finish them off.

“We got beaten by a power game; we couldn’t deal with Saints’ scrum and line-out, which they did very well.”

Mr Hill say's If this club wants to move on and become a top-six team it has got to change the way it plays.I am not a rugby fan,but i do want Worcester teams(whatever sport it is) to do well.I think Mr Hill's comments are a bit late in coming,a few supporters belive that this should have happend months ago.Weekend results not good for the warriors, soon it will be the point of no return.

"AUDIBLE boos rang out from sections of Sixways at the final whistle last Saturday, but head coach Richard Hill insists Warriors fans must keep the faith." THE AUDIBLE BOO'S ARE JUST AN ESCALATION IN WHAT IS ALREADY A VERY DIASPPOINTED FAN BASE. LOOK ATHE CUES OF TRAFFIC LEAVING THE GROUND BEFORE THE FINAL WHISTLE HAS GONE.

The former England scrum-half, who is under pressure to halt his side’s current run of poor form, admits he wasn’t sure if the cat-calls were aimed at his players or referee Greg Garner.
HE SHOULD BE UNDER PRESSURE. HE'S NOT DELIVERING. BLAMING THE REF'S ALL THE TIME IS A COP OUT.

However, what he will be certain of is that his pack were out-muscled by Northampton Saints as Warriors once again tailed off to defeat in a match where they had competed well for the first 60 minutes. THAT MUST COME DOWN TO RECRUITMENT AND RETENTION AND TRAINING PITCH ISSUES

The Sixways chief said: “I don’t know if the fans were booing the team or the referee at the end, but I can understand their frustrations.
DOESN'T REALLY MATTER DOES IT. THE RESULT'S THE SAME.
“If this club wants to move on and become a top-six team it has got to change the way it plays and you have to go through some teething processes. It doesn’t come easy — this is a brutal league and there are some very good teams in it.
HOW MANY TEETH DOES HE WANT TO CUT EXACTLY ?
“To think you can just come and beat a quality side like Northampton is arrogant. You have to realise that these teams are very good and it takes a hell of a lot to beat them.
YES. LIKE RECRUITING AND BUILDING A STRONG TEAM AND COACHING IN A GAME PLAN , MOTIVATING THAT TEAM AND MAKING SURE THE CONDITIONING AND ATTITUDE IS CORRECT. YOU KNOW THE KIND OF STUFF YOU'D EX[ECT FROM A LEVEL 5 COACH.

“I would hope a lot of Worcester supporters would have gone away disappointed with the result, but then actually look back and think there was some outstanding rugby.
SO HOW MANY LEAGURE POINTS DO YOU GET FOR PHASES OF OUTSTANDING RUGBY ? **** RIGHT WE LEFT DISAPPOINTED AGAIN. WHAT A RIDICULOUS STATEMENT.
“We had a good first-half and for the first 20 minutes of the second-half we played some superb rugby out there. A year ago you wouldn’t have seen Worcester with the same intent and the ability to play 15-man rugby.”
REALLY... THE LEAGUE POSITION SUGGESTS DIFFERENTLY. STOP THE DENIAL. WE HAVEN'T PROGRESSED. END OF. IT'S THE RESULT AT THE END OF 80 MINS THAT MATTERS. MORE NONSENSE.
Hill added: “I thought some of the individual performances were outstanding — Errie Claassens, Josh Drauniniu, Jonny Arr and Andy Goode, as well as the forwards who were off-loading a lot, it was a terrific effort. IT'S A 15 MAN GAME...!!

..“We made more line-breaks in that game than I’ve seen us make in many Premiership matches, but we are not finishing them off. We have to keep persevering with that type of rugby, because the players enjoy it and we can’t afford to go back to basics. PERSEVERING WITH WHAT...? fRUSTRATING DEFEATS. THIS STRATEGY WILL SERVE US WELL IN THE CHAMPIONSHIP IF WE ARE NOT CAREFUL.

“We have to keep playing with that intent and with ball-in-hand — eventually we will learn to finish off those line-breaks we are making. WELL LETS HOPE YOU DON'T RUN OUT OF TIME.

“I don’t think we’re far off – the hardest thing is to make the line-breaks – we just need to finish them off.

“We got beaten by a power game; we couldn’t deal with Saints’ scrum and line-out, which they did very well.”
WELL WE SURLY TOOK THAT FROM THE TRAINING GROUND INTO THE MATCH THEN DIDN'T WE. THIS SET UP IS A FULL TIME JOB FOR ALL CONCERNED. ARE YOU BOYS WORKING 40 HOURS A WEEK ?

WHAT A LOAD OF HOGWASH !

We wont keep ourselves in the Prem' I think either London Irish or Welsh will. Sale will finish above us so it means another 10th place finish at best.

The booing Mr Hill was aimed at you & the other villain skulking near the North Stand Mr Little.
You, Little, Redmond (if he ain't good enough, as you infer) should go & go now.

Aside from missing a late tackle from the Saints replacement prop on Goode the ref had a pretty good game.

Mr Hill the boos were aimed well and truely at the side and their shocking performance, we did not play much outstanding rugby, yes we mae line breaks but none of the players could be bothered to try and support the man. We were not a side we were 15 individuls on Saturday.

Why play players who are not interested in the club, they are not going to kill themselves are they. Mr Hill you must be utterly stupid if you think otherwise.
Put players in now (young or old) who will be at the club next year & hope they would want to play for their places.
Weather or not you & your band of muppets will still be there is, of course another matter.
