A VASTLY outclassed Mersey Tigers team saw their winless run in the British Basketball League extend to 23 games as they were obliterated by a ruthless Worcester Wolves.

With the outcome of the match never in doubt, coach Paul James gave plenty of court time to his second-string players.

Tigers point guard Jack Hudson got the scoring underway, but this was to be the only time his team would hold a lead.

Wolves had opened up a 29-16 advantage by the end of the first quarter and were 54-33 ahead at half-time.

Following an 18-4 burst at the start of the third quarter, James threw on his fringe players but there was little let up.

Entering the final 10 minutes 90-48 ahead, Albert Ziwa and Daniel Belgrave both floated home three-pointers to ensure each of Wolves’ 12-man squad made the scoresheet.

Arnas Kazlauskas led the Worcester scorers with 17 points in only 20 minutes of action, while Kalil Irving, Albert Ziwa and Harry Turner scored 12, 11 and 10 respectively.

Head coach James said: “We did what we were supposed to do. We took care of business early and gave our younger players extended court time.”
