HEAD coach Paul James says he will not risk Sherrad Prezzie-Blue against Surrey Heat and Durham Wildcats if he can avoid it.

Wolves host Surrey at the University of Worcester tonight (7.30) before travelling to the north-east on Sunday for a 4pm tip-off.

Prezzie-Blue missed last weekend’s double home success with a knee injury and, although he is back in training, James wants his point guard fully fit for the British Basketball League two-legged Trophy semi-final against Leicester Riders next Friday and Saturday.

He said: “Sherrad will be on the bench but how much he’ll play in the game I don’t know. I’ve got to keep one eye on the Trophy semi-final as well and I would rather have him fully fit for that than have him 90 per cent.

“He may play some part but if I don’t need to use him I won’t.

“If we can win these two games without him we will but if I need to put him in to give a bit of stability to the team then I will.

“It’s a matter of taking each game as it comes and looking at the situation.”

Wolves suffered a 97-91 over-time defeat when fifth-placed Surrey visited last month in which the Heat forced the additional minutes with a last-second three-pointer from former Worcester player Sam Cricelli.

That cost Worcester the head-to-head having also lost 71-69 at Surrey Sports Park in October.
