Time to beat the top teams says Mills
GREG Mills says it’s time for Worcester City to prove they are good enough to mix it with the Blue Square Bet North play-off chasers.
City head into today’s match against second-placed Guiseley at St George’s Lane (3pm) having failed to beat any of the teams currently above them in the table this season.
But following back-to-back defeats against Solihull Moors and Harrogate Town, Mills knows that has to change if they are to stand any chance of keeping their increasingly fading hopes of finishing in the top five alive.
The winger said: “We’ve got the team and when everything clicks I think we’re up there with the best in the league. At the minute it’s not all clicking but we’re confident.
“We’ve had a week to work on things and hopefully today against Guiseley we can beat a team that’s above us and catch them up.
“We can’t really afford a slip up but I know, and we all know, that we are good enough.
“We’ve just got to believe and make sure the fans try and get behind us and push us on.
“We’ve dropped points against the teams below us so that means now that we’ve got to get the points against the teams above us.
“I think the team’s improved this year so we are more than capable of doing it.”
Mills has been a substitute in the last two matches, having missed the Stalybridge Celtic victory because of a hamstring injury.
However, he says he is fully fit again and is hoping manager Carl Heeley will give him the nod from the start against Guiseley.
The former Telford speedster said: “I feel all right. I played 20 minutes against Solihull and half-a-game last Saturday but if the gaffer wants to play me against Guiseley then I feel fit enough to play.”
