Goal aim for Evesham United
EVESHAM United visit Didcot Town tomorrow (3pm) aiming to score a goal for the first time in four matches.
The Robins drew blanks against Hungerford Town and Poole Town, losing both 1-0, while also playing out a goalless stalemate with Swindon Supermarine.
While boss Paul West praised his players for their efforts against three teams gunning for Evo-Stik Southern League Division One South and West promotion, he knows more is needed.
United’s last goals came in the 3-1 victory at Winchester City on February 9 when Carl Brown, Marcus Palmer and Will Gayton were on target.
The Evesham manager said: “We have to improve in that last third and be more clinical.
“We have had chances but, if you fail to make them count, that’s a problem.
“We competed in all three games and should have got a bit more from them so we have to learn from it and hopefully push on.
“We are not a million miles away but have to ask questions of opponents by scoring goals.
“The team has been resolute and difficult to play against but we have to take some of our chances. That’s not just the forwards but the whole team.”
Brown (ankle), captain Matt Sysum (back) and fellow centre-half Chris Jackson (arm) should be fit for the trip to Oxfordshire after playing through the pain barrier against Hungerford last Saturday.
