RICHARD Hill is expecting a call from the league’s citing officer after Josh Matavesi’s crude clattering of Saracens scrum-half Neil de Kock.

The Warriors centre collared the South African number nine and sparked angry scenes on the touchline as Saracens boss Mark McCall reacted to the poor challenge.

Worcester head coach Hill admits he is expecting further action to be taken after referee Tim Wigglesworth and his officials missed the incident in the 47-17 defeat.

Hill said: “It was a very clumsy challenge and I don’t condone anything like that. Josh is not a malicious player, but he caught de Kock, there’s no doubt about that.

“It looked like a bad one at the time and he apologised to de Kock afterwards.

“I certainly wouldn’t want any of my players to go out and deliberately knock someone’s head off like that.

“I imagine I may well be getting a call from the citing officer this morning.

“As a coach, you don’t want to see your players get flattened and it could have been worse, so their coach reacted like that, but we’ve kissed and made up, so to speak!”

Hill added: “Before the game, I wasn’t a big fan of the artificial pitch and I like it even less now! Personally, I’m not a fan of it and there’s no doubt that it creates a different type of game.

“It’s artificial and I’m a grass man myself — it made for a very fast and different game.”

Warriors now face Harlequins on Saturday (3pm) for their penultimate game of the season and Hill is hoping to bounce back.

Hill said: “This week’s game is an opportunity to sign off at home with a win for our supporters before our final game at London Welsh.

“Harlequins are a high-quality team and it will be a tough one, so we will have to produce something special and hope they are slightly off their game.”
