MOEEN Ali missed out on the chance to become the first batsman to 1,000 runs this season when he was dismissed this morning.
The Worcestershire left-hander was trapped lbw by a James Faulkner for 35, leaving him on 953 First-Class runs this term.
At the lunch interval, the County are 136-3, requiring another 321 to force an unlikely victory over the touring Australians.
Beginning the day on 64-1, Matt Pardoe and Moeen advanced the score to 114, before the former was caught at slip by Michael Clarke off Faulkner for a well-made 57.
Moeen followed soon after, while captain Daryl Mitchell (9*) and Alexei Kervezee (0*) saw their side through to the interval.
