WORCESTER fitness fanatics came away with trophies from the third event in the national cross-trainer grand prix series.
Members of the city’s PF2 gym in Diglis were taking part in the Fenton Grueller in Garstang, near Preston.
They had to complete nine challenges, including box steps, bench presses, sit ups, a 300-metre row, 750m cycle and 500m run in the quickest time.
Sarah Browne and Annette Leng won the respective senior (under 40s) and veteran (over 50s) sections in the novice category, while Fiona Walker (senior), Stuart Leng (veteran) and Lee Fisher (master, 40-49) also triumphed in their intermediate categories.
Marc Bullock came fourth in the intermediate seniors, finishing just four seconds behind the winner.
Prolific senior Gwen Fennell won the advanced section, smashing the existing course record and being the first woman ever to break 19 minutes.
PF2 will be hosting the next national event on Saturday, September 28.
Gym members will also be taking part in a charity event at HMP Hewell in Redditch on Saturday, July 27, where 40 people will race against prisoners and staff.
