KIDDERMINSTER Harriers step up their preparations for the new season tonight when they welcome Port Vale to Aggborough (7.30).
It will be the second time in a week that Steve Burr’s side have faced League One opposition, following on from last Saturday’s 2-1 defeat to Walsall.
Harriers won 2-1 at Stourbridge on Tuesday but Micky Adams’ men will provide a stern test with just three weeks to go until the start of the Conference Premier campaign. Kidderminster, who also send a side to Stourport Swifts tomorrow (3pm), intend to utilise as much of their squad as possible.
The heat has taken its toll on the players with right-back Lee Vaughan and midfielder Callum Gittings both having suffered with blisters in recent days. However, the pair are expected to play a part against Port Vale.
Hereford United face their toughest pre-season work-out to date with a match against Premier League West Brom at Edgar Street tomorrow (1pm).
Martin Foyle’s side have played two friendlies so far, beating a Leominster Town Select XI 4-0 last Saturday and losing 1-0 to Bristol Rovers on Tuesday.
Albion’s team will be predominantly made up of youngsters as a first-team touring party of 25 players are in Austria.
Westfields host Haverfordwest tomorrow (2.30pm), while Pershore Town host Malvern Rangers tomorrow (3pm).
