REVENGE will be on the minds of Worcester Wolves as their British Basketball League season gets off to a spicy start.

The Universiry Arena side start their campaign on the road at Surrey Heat, the team that beat them in the play-off quarter-finals last term, on Saturday, September 28.

They then welcome defending champions Leicester Riders, who edged them out in the BBL Trophy semi-finals, for their first game in the new arena on Friday, October 4.

Director of basketball Paul James said: “Yes it’s fair to say that there will be a touch of extra spice for our first couple of fixtures.

“We open up at Surrey and they always seem to raise their game against us. But we will just have to make sure that we also play to our full potential.

“Leicester won three of the four competitions on offer last season and have already made sure that they have a talented squad assembled for the coming season.

"Added to that, we owe them one for taking us down at a late stage of the BBL Trophy last year and then we have the absolutely massive matter of the game being our very first at the new arena.

“I can’t wait — it’s going to be a fantastic game.”
