NEW signing Lee Fowler believes Kidderminster Harriers are favourites for the Conference Premier title this season.

The former Doncaster and Fleetwood midfielder, who has penned a two-year deal at Aggborough, reckons Harriers have the players to better last season’s position as runners-up.

Although manager Steve Burr does not have the resources of some of his rivals, he has kept 15 of last season’s squad and also recruited midfielder Jamie Tolley and wingers James Dance and Dior Angus.

Fowler is impressed with the squad and does not think a lack of financial clout will count against Harriers.

The 30-year-old said: “We’re competing against teams who have a lot of money at their disposal and, while we may not spend the most, we have got very good players.

“I think the league will not be as strong as it has been. The title is open to anyone and I think Kidderminster have to be favourites.”

One thing different for Harriers this season is sharing Aggborough with Worcester City who were homeless after leaving St George’s Lane.

Kidderminster have vowed to plough City’s undisclosed five-figure rent into maintaining the surface and Fowler says the team will have to adapt.

He added: “It’s not ideal sharing with Worcester. I don’t believe most winning teams have shared a pitch with another and that could hamper how we play. But good players can play on any pitch and we can’t use it as an excuse.”
