ETHAN Moore’s future at Worcester City is in doubt after manager Carl Heeley questioned the player’s commitment to the club.

The former Aston Villa youth-team striker, who joined City at the end of the last campaign following a spell with Hellenic League Premier Division outfit Cheltenham Saracens, had agreed to return to the club for their exile at Kidderminster Harriers.

However, has not featured in the last three pre-season friendlies and doesn’t seem to be in the frame for tomorrow’s trip to Loughborough University.

Worcester boss Heeley said: “I’ve had a chat with Ethan and he needs to decide what he wants to do and what level of football he wants to play at.

“We demand high standards from our players and if any of those players can’t get to that standard with their commitments then they’re no good to us. At the moment, Ethan hasn’t been here often enough.

“It’s a shame because the lad’s got good potential but with Conference North football you have to have a certain amount of commitment and application and at this moment he hasn’t got that.”

With Moore not involved, former Walsall striker Aaron Williams grasped his opportunity by scoring in Saturday’s 1-1 draw at Westfields.

The teenager is one of a host of players seeking to earn deals with the Conference North club and Heeley anticipates making some announcements early this week.

He said: “We have agreed deals with players who are not available at the moment through injuries and other commitments so when they back I think we will be stronger for it.

“We have just got a few documents to get sorted, but I think we’re there on at least three or four players. Some were involved on Saturday and some weren’t.”

Loughborough striker Daniel Nti was one player who didn’t feature at Westfields, but is still in the club’s plans.

Heeley, though, is pleased with the way his squad is developing with four warm-up matches still to go.

“It was another good work-out for us and we are progressing along nicely,” he said. “The goal was a great move and that’s what we’ve got to create more often in the last third.

“It’s an area where there’s got to be improvement, we know that, but the last two games have been against good sides who make it difficult and are well organised.”

Meanwhile, new centre-half Sam Smith will miss the first three games of Worcester’s 2013-14 campaign through a suspension carried over from his time at Stourbridge.
