WORCESTER Wolves have continued to bolster their squad for an assault on the British Basketball League title by signing American Will Creekmore.

The 24-year-old centre or power forward arrives at the University Arena club just days after Ian Salter and links up with fellow summer recruits Zaire Taylor and Jamal Williams.

Standing just one inch shorter than 6ft 10ins Salter, Creekmore, who appeared last season in the NBA Development League for Tulsa 66ers, a team affiliated to NBA high-fliers Oklahoma City Thunder, brings yet more height to the Wolves.

He has been a target for director of basketball Paul James and the Wolves chief has made his move with the new season under two months away.

“Will has been on my radar for some time. Once I learnt he was available, I knew he would be a good fit for the Wolves,” James said.

“He is a big body who can score steadily and will grab plenty of boards for us.”

Before his stint with the Tulsa 66ers, Creekmore averaged eight points and four rebounds in the German Pro ‘A’ League for Ehinghen Steeples.

Creekmore also impressed earlier in his career at Thomas Edison High School in Tulsa where he led the entire state of Oklahoma in rebounding during his junior and senior campaigns, eventually ending up as the school’s all-time top rebounder.

He went on to play for the Missouri State Bears and posted statistics of 11 points and seven rebounds per game in his senior year.

“I am excited about the opportunity to play this season in the BBL for Worcester,” Creekmore said.

“Coach James and the rest of the staff have done a great job putting together a competitive roster.

“I look forward to doing my part in helping the Wolves compete for a championship this season.”

Creekmore, Taylor, Salter and Williams join a squad that already includes last season’s star performer Alex Owumi and England international Kalil Irving.

Wolves are hoping to re-sign Kai Williams, Jamal’s brother, having offering him a contract.

Stan Ocitti, who would have to be included as a professional this term following the completion of his studies, is also mulling over a possible return.
