EVESHAM United bid to put a poor start to the season behind them by enjoying success in the FA Cup tomorrow.

Shaun Cunnington’s Rob-ins have picked up just two points from their first four Calor League Division One South and West matches, losing 6-0 at Wimborne Town in the process.

Tomorrow, they take on Midland Combination Prem-ier Division high-fliers Bole-hall Swifts in the FA Cup preliminary round at the Spiers and Hartwell Jubilee Stad-ium (3pm).

It is the ideal opportunity to kick-start their campaign and, with £1,925 for the winners, generate welcome funds.

Although Evesham’s recent record in the competition does not make for great reading – they have fallen at the first hurdle in two of the last four seasons – fans only have to go back to the 2008-09 campaign when they played Torquay United in the first round proper.

Stourport Swifts are also in FA Cup action tomorrow, welcoming Midland Alliance newcomers Wulfrunians to Walshes Meadow (3pm).

Swifts have made a disappointing start to their All-iance campaign with just one win from five matches, while Wulfrunians, promoted from the West Midlands League, are unbeaten in third.

Manager Rod Brown said: “Wulfs are a young, fit side and I might have to change my tactics.”
