LEAGUE tables might count for little at this stage of the season but, in the case of Skrill North, it does help put Worcester City’s start into perspective.

Carl Heeley’s side head to Boston United today (3pm) with just two points to show from their first four games of the campaign.

Those well-earned points came against Brackley and Hednesford, while one of the two defeats came against Altrincham.

Those three teams currently occupy the top three places in the division with Altrincham leading the way with a 100 per cent record from four games.

Worcester’s one result not in keeping with the early pace-setters was the 2-1 defeat at Gloucester City who have managed just one other victory to date.

However, they might count themselves unfortunate not to have taken a point from the red card-tarnished local derby at Whaddon Road.

Heeley has been pleased with his players to date and reckons City’s opponents so far are living up to their reputations.

“These teams have started well but I expected them to and, when you look at the fixtures, I thought it was always going to be a tough start,” he said.

Meanwhile, Worcester have not ruled out adding more experience to their youthful ranks in the coming weeks.

The acquisition of keeper Jose Veiga from Tamworth made a significant impact on the team and his presence played a big part in the draws with Brackley and Hednesford.

But, with finances tight for the Aggborough tenants, Heeley would have to free up space in the squad and he is loathe to bring in players for the sake of it.

“We are on the look-out but it would have to be offset by players leaving as well,” the City manager added.

There are now 20 players on Worcester’s books following the release of Elliot Turner and fellow midfielder Jake Heath’s return to League One side Walsall.
