Cessford to remain with County for another year
9:00am Saturday 5th October 2013 in Sport
FAST bowler Graeme Cessford has signed a one-year contract extension to stay with Worcestershire until the end of the 2014 season.
Thirty-year-old Cessford made his first-class debut for Worcestershire against Oxford MCCU at The Parks in May after joining the County as part of the Royal Air Force’s Elite Athlete Programme in November.
Since then the right-armer has collected 17 wickets in six first-class appearances, including 4-73 at New Road against Lancashire.
In the limited-over format, Cessford has featured in four List ‘A’ matches. In Yorkshire Bank 40 action his best return of 4-24 came in the County’s 140-run victory over Warwickshire at Edgbaston.
Director of cricket Steve Rhodes said: “We are obviously pleased Graeme has agreed to extend his stay.
“The minor surgery he has recently undertaken will have a positive effect on his performances. We must also thank the RAF for allowing Graeme to pursue his cricketing ambitions with us.”
