Dutch star Davids set to make Edgar Street trip

FORMER Dutch international Edgar Davids is set to be the in the opposition dug-out at Hereford United tomorrow when Barnet visit Edgar Street in the Skrill Premier (3pm).
The 40-year-old, who won 74 caps for his country during an illustrious career, is player-coach with the ninth-placed Bees.
Although Davids starts a three-match ban following a red card in last weekend’s 1-1 draw with Wrexham, he is expected to make the journey to Hereford.
His presence is likely to make him the star attraction with autograph hunters out in force to meet a player who also graced the top level of European club football with Ajax, AC Milan and Juventus.
But while Davids grabs the attention everywhere Barnet travel, Hereford are looking to climb the table with a first win in five matches.
The Bulls responded to back-to-back defeats with a 2-2 home draw against Dartford last Saturday in which new recruits Kevin Krans and Ross Dyer were both on target.
Manager Martin Foyle will be hoping the pair, on one-month loans from Bristol City and Mansfield respectively, will repeat their heroics against Barnet.
“Kevin is a young kid and we’re going to have to work with him but with Danny Pilkington tearing his thigh in training — yet another nightmare — I had to bring someone in,” the United manager said.
“He tired but he certainly showed some quality at times.
“Ross came in as well because we were not having any joy in front of goal.”
Winger Pilkington remains a doubt for tomorrow’s game, while striker Sam Smith serves the second of a three-match ban after being sent off against Macclesfield.
Striker Michael Rankine (hamstring) and midfield trio Kingsley James (knee), Frankie Artus (leg) and Josh O’Keefe (broken arm) have also been sidelined by injury.
