WORCESTER City manager Carl Heeley highlighted the work-rate of his team following their goalless draw against Guiseley.

The Blue and Whites moved up to 18th in Skrill North with last night's stalemate at Aggborough and made it four points from two games following last Saturday’s 2-1 victory at Stalybridge Celtic.

It was also their sixth clean sheet in the league and 10 in all competitions, leaving the City boss with few complaints.

He said: “Guiseley had a poor start to the season but they’re the form side and for me they’re one of if not the best passing side in the league.

“We set ourselves up to be difficult to break down and I thought we frustrated them, I can’t remember Ryan Boot having a save to make.

“There weren’t many chances but you couldn’t fault the work-rate of any of the players, they put a real shift in and, after working so hard on Saturday to win the game at Stalybridge, they are good characteristics to have.

“It was a decent game for a 0-0, I thought both sides tried to play football and there was some good stuff.

"I think we looked more likely to win it in the second-half and I thought we finished the stronger side but overall four points from two games is a good return and we’re quite happy with that.

“If you can’t win, you don’t lose it and you keep a clean sheet, and that’s another one.

“I thought Matt Regan and Graham Hutchison were outstanding, they marshalled the defence along with the two full-backs and Ryan. I thought we dealt with everything that Guiseley threw at us.”

Heeley added: “I’m not too concerned about the league table now, I wasn’t when we were bottom because I’m more interested in the performances.

“We’ve been in the game long enough to know that if the performances are strong and you’re not conceding many goals and creating chances then it will turn eventually.”
