WORCESTER City manager Carl Heeley insists that Telford will have their work cut out in the quest for FA Trophy success in tomorrow’s first round replay.

The Blue and Whites held their Skrill North rivals, who are 13 places higher in the table, to a goalless draw in a thrilling contest at Aggborough on Saturday.

It extended their unbeaten run to four games, was their 11th clean sheet in all competitions and ensured they are in the hat for today’s second round draw.

Heeley reckoned a replay was the fair outcome and is ready to push Telford all the way again in Shropshire.

“The tie’s got plenty of football left in it,” he said. “They’re going to have to work hard to beat us, that’s for certain.

“We’re a strong side and we’re difficult to break down and the work-rate is phenomenal, the players stick together and work hard for each other. They want to do well and they are great qualities to have.

“I thought we looked a major threat and with a little bit more composure with the final ball we could have nicked it.

“There was certainly no lack of chances from either side although both teams were difficult to break down.

“It wasn’t a typical 0-0 draw. You always felt there was a goal in it and couldn’t really predict which way it was going to go. Telford looked a threat, then we did and it was pretty end-to-end.

“On reflection, neither side deserved to win or lose and a draw was a fair result and we’ll try again tomorrow.”

Heeley also felt the performance was further evidence of City being a better side than their position of 19th in the league suggests.

He said: “Are we a struggling side? Not in my opinion.

“Are we difficult and resilient to break down? Yes, certainly. Could we have a little bit more quality in the last third? Possibly.

“There are things to work on, we’re not whipping boys so I am quite happy with how we’re going. I think the players have been superb.”

The Worcester boss continued: “In the summer, as a club we were in turmoil and it’s been tough. The basis to build from is to be a difficult side to break down and beat.

“That’s what we set up to do and to get 11 clean sheets before December is something else.

“I think we have done consistently well and the one thing we have done regularly is not concede goals and you’ve always got an opportunity to win when that happens.”
