DIRECTOR of basketball Paul James praised the efforts of his Worcester Wolves players following back-to-back British League victories over the weekend.

Wolves followed up their 118-102 victory over Manchester Giants last Friday with a 100-96 triumph at Durham Wildcats 48 hours later.

While Zaire Taylor stole the show against the Giants, with eight three-pointers in a personal total of 37, Will Creekmore and Alex Owumi stepped up to the plate against Durham.

Creekmore scored 32 points and pulled down 15 rebounds, with Owumi scoring 30 points to keep Wolves top of the table but having played two more games than second-placed Sheffield Sharks.

James said: “Will was outstanding. We knew Durham were a relatively small team and had a game-plan to get the ball inside to him. They played him straight up, but just couldn’t do anything to stop him.

“Alex was also superb. He gave a captain’s performance, controlling matters and keeping us focused.” He added: “We did a good job, putting out a clinical controlled performance against a dangerous opponent.”

Wolves are not scheduled to play again until the visit of London Lions to the University Arena on Friday, December 20, followed by a home match against Birmingham Knights eight days later.
