“WE were magnificent,” was manager Carl Heeley’s assessment of his Worcester City team after their emphatic 3-0 FA Trophy first round replay triumph at Telford United.

The Blue and Whites produced an excellent display to sweep aside their Skrill North rivals at the New Bucks Head to set up a last-32 clash against Aldershot Town on Saturday, December 14.

Daniel Nti's sixth goal of the season as well as strikes from Ellis Deeney and Aaron Williams, all in the first-half, did the damage as Worcester bossed the game from start to finish.

Heeley said: “I think it was wrapped up by half-time in all honesty. We were magnificent and I think anybody who’s seen us this season and of late can see we have created lots and lots of chances.

“The only criticism I can have of players is we haven’t taken enough of them. Against Telford we were fluent, took our chances and it could have been more.

“Giving respect to Telford, they’re a very good side and it’s a big club and tough place to come and play but we’re delighted to get through to the next round.”

The win stretched City’s unbeaten run to five matches and was their 12th clean sheet of the season.

The Worcester manager continued: “It’s another clean sheet, we’re delighted with that because we take great pride in our defensive record.

“We are incredibly tough to break down and all we needed to do was try and convert a few of the chances. I’m delighted that we’ve done that and it’s a great win for the club.

“Once or twice this season I have been critical but that aside we have been absolutely magnificent, the work-rate and togetherness of the team is superb.

“I thought every single one of them worked incredibly hard. When play broke down, we got back in our shape and that’s why we’ve kept 12 clean sheets.”
