I AM delighted Worcester Wolves are back on top of the British Basketball League following two victories in which we scored more than 100 points.

Although we’ve played a few more games than other teams, we’ve got the wins so I am thrilled that we’re there at the top.

It puts a little bit of pressure on those teams below us and the season is probably going to come down to who blinks first because it is so tight. The teams below us have still got to play each other several times.

We’re excited about where we are but we’re still trying to keep our feet firmly on the floor.

In the 118-102 victory against Manchester Giants last Friday, we came up against a team who had been playing very well and had taken Sheffield to overtime the week before. They shot the ball very well but thankfully for us we shot the ball better.

Durham had already beaten teams like Plymouth Raiders and London Lions on their floor so we really had to focus and take advantage of our size and we duly did that to win 100-86.

I thought Sunday was an even better performance than Friday because it was more clinical, the game plan worked to perfection and our defence was solid.

We have now scored three-figures against four teams this season, which shows we have got the firepower and capability to score big numbers. Now it’s about trying to keep that consistent and stay on top of teams defensively.

I’m not a great fan of just trying to out-score teams, I always want to try to stop the opposition from scoring.

It’s a very dangerous game to play if you’re not going to worry about the defence. Championships are won by teams who play good defence and, yes we can score, but we want to take a lot of pride in the work we do defensively and keep teams to the low 70s if we can.

When it comes to offence, against Manchester Zaire Taylor shot the ball as well as I’ve ever seen anyone shoot. He was seven from seven from the three-point line in the first-half and eight from nine by the end.

Will Creekmore is also still dominating teams when we get him the ball in the right place and Alex Owumi scored 30 points on Sunday.
