Bulls aim for plum tie against City aces
9:00am Saturday 14th December 2013 in Sport
PREMIER League big spenders Manchester City are the potential fourth round opponents for Hereford United if they beat Bournemouth in the FA Youth Cup on Thursday (7pm).
The Bulls under 18s could visit the Blues or Doncaster Rovers, who also play in mid-week, next month with a shock third round victory at the Championship club.
Hereford’s fine run has already seen them triumph 1-0 at Chesterfield and 3-0 against Milton Keynes Dons at Edgar Street after knocking out fellow non-league clubs previously.
Youth team manager Peter Beadle said: “We’ll go into the game thinking they are there for the beating, no doubt they’ll feel the same, but the carrot at the end for the boys is huge. It’s a massive achievement for us to be at this point in this prestigious competition.”
Meanwhile, the first team’s rearranged clash at Wrexham in the Skrill Premier will be on Tuesday, February 11 (7.45pm).
Meanwhile, Herefordshire band and Bulls fans King Mantis have re-released Danny Lee’s classic ‘Hereford United (We All Love You)’.
The original record was recorded in the 1970s with several re-releases over the years. King Mantis hope their reworking, that is still sung on the terraces at Edgar Street, will help raise much-needed funds for the Bulls.
The song can be downloaded for £1.50 with all profits going directly to the club.
The band said: “As fans, we’ve been involved with fundraising by playing gigs but wanted to do even more as the club are going through really tough times. The problem is real and is happening now so we had to act fast.”
