Worcester News: City chiefs put trust in fans over move City chiefs put trust in fans over move

WORCESTER City have officially announced that they are working with the club’s supporters’ trust over relocating to Perdiswell.

The parties have held talks following the Skrill North club’s release from the contract with St Modwen, which tied City to moving to Nunnery Way.

With that now out of the picture, the club, who currently play at Aggborough in Kidderminster, have met with the trust to discuss their proposal for a new stadium at Perdiswell and plans to make City a fans-owned club. Designs are in the process of being submitted to Worcester City Council and last month the trust outlined a proposal that would give them 51 per cent of the club’s shares.

At the moment, the constitution only allows a maximum shareholding of one per cent.

While the club admit there are some issues to be resolved, they believe working together is the best way for a brighter future.

A statement issued on behalf of the club and the trust said: “Following Worcester City Football Club’s release from the Nunnery Way contracts the board of directors has met with representatives of the Worcester City FC Supporters’ Trust.

“As part of these discussions, the supporters’ trust updated the board on progress regarding its proposals for a community hub at Perdiswell as well as their proposals for a constitutional change governing the way in which the company is run in the future.

“It is clear from the discussions that there are a number of detailed matters which needed to be resolved. However, based on the amicable discussions which took place, there is a consensus about the way forward.

“Both parties have identified a course of action and have agreed to work together to progress these issues as speedily as possible.

“Further detailed discussions are planned and more detailed updates will be provided when appropriate.”
