HEREFORD United beat hosts Bour-nemouth 4-3 on penalties to book a fourth-round tie with Premier League big spenders Manchester City in the FA Youth Cup.

Jarrod Bowen put the Bulls in front in the first-half but the Cherries eventually forced extra-time with the game remaining level at 1-1.

Keeper Kyle Moore saved the decisive spot-kick to send the Bulls into the final 32 as the lowest-ranked side left in the competition.

Hereford had already beaten MK Dons and Chester-field but must now face a team packed with young international talent at the home of Hyde before January 25 after City saw off Doncaster Rovers 4-0.

Meanwhile, captain Luke Graham says Hereford United's first team must start scoring more goals if they want to pull clear of Skrill Premier danger.

The 18th-placed Bulls have netted 25 times in 22 league matches this season. Top-scorers Michael Rankine and Sam Smith have only managed three goals each.

With Martin Foyle’s side facing five games in two weeks, starting with today’s home match against leaders Cambridge United (3pm), Graham knows the ‘goals for’ column must improve.

He said: “They are tough matches but it’s down to us to get some points. Everyone is looking for a lift but it’s only the players on the pitch who can provide that.

“All of the games are winnable but the first goal is so important.

“When you get to the Christmas period and your top-scorer is on three goals, it says a lot about what the problem is.”
