WORCESTER City are determined to consign the disappointing defeat against Gloucester City to the history books and kick off 2014 with a victory.

The Blue and Whites host Skrill North leaders Solihull Moors at Aggborough today (3pm) looking to bounce back from Saturday’s 1-0 home defeat at the hands of the Tigers.

Although the loss was Worcester’s 10th in the league this campaign and sixth at home, leaving them in the division’s bottom three, it is under a week since Carl Heeley’s team snatched a draw against the Moors.

Ethan Moore struck with three minutes left at Damson Park to rescue a point on Boxing Day on the back of a 1-0 victory over another promotion hopeful in Harrogate Town.

It is the performances from those two matches that City will look to replicate when they welcome Solihull for the return fixture.

Assistant manager Matt Gardiner said: “That’s the really good thing about this period, it’s an opportunity to put things right really quickly.

“The lads know what we’ve got to do, it’s another home game and our form at Aggborough has got to improve quickly.

“We have got to recreate the way we played against Solihull away from home and against Harrogate here at Aggborough.

“It’s all about the start and getting the basics right.

“I didn’t think we did that against Gloucester and encouraged them on to us which is disappointing when you consider their (poor) away form.

“We have young players, they will be up and down in terms of their own development, but it’s a big match for us against Solihull.

“It’s going to be a good game and we’ve got to pay them respect but I fancy us to bounce back.”

Worcester striker Danny Glover (dead arm) and defender Shabir Khan (hernia) are set to return to action from injury.

Table-toppers Solihull have been the surprise package in the league this season and former Kidderminster Harriers right-back Marcus Bignot’s side are unbeaten in their last six matches with the latest being a 2-0 victory at Oxford City last Saturday.

But Moors were given a run for their money by Worcester last week and will not be taking their local rivals for granted.
