MANAGER Carl Heeley says Worcester City cannot afford to worry about their relegation rivals and must concentrate on getting themselves out of trouble.

The Blue and Whites head to Histon tomorrow (3pm) five points from safety in Skrill North having played the same number of games as fourth-from-bottom Barrow.

The Cumbrians’ 3-1 victory at Stalybridge Celtic on Tuesday lifted them out of the drop-zone at the expense of Gloucester City.

But Heeley says Worcester have to take care of their own destiny by winning as many of their remaining 20 matches as possible.

“We have got to win some games ourselves, it doesn’t matter if we are playing teams around us or at the top of the league. We have got to get some points,” he said.

“There are plenty of matches left but we have to pick points up and, if we can get a run going, a few wins can do a lot for clubs.”

Following the mid-week postponement against Telford United, new signings Aaron Brown, Kristian Ramsey-Dickson and Jamie Grimes are all poised to make their debuts at Histon.

All three have been recruited in the wake of last Saturday’s 6-1 drubbing at Bradford Park Avenue and more new faces could arrive in the near future.

Centre-half Grimes, on loan from Kidderminster Harriers, is likely to play alongside Richard Munday as Graham Hutchison (ankle) and Shabir Khan (hernia) are doubts.

Brown could be deployed in midfield, while striker Ramsey-Dickson is set to start up front, possibly with Ethan Moore or Danny Glover.

“There’s no point bringing them in and not playing them,” Heeley said.

“We brought them in because we feel they will strengthen us.

“Whether they start or not I don’t know but they will be in the squad.

“We are second-from-bottom and disappointed with that. Collectively, it hasn’t been good enough.

“We have really tried hard at times but it hasn’t been good enough. If we can improve certain areas of the squad, then we will sign the players.”

Histon, 14th in the table, are four games unbeaten and won 3-2 at basement boys Workington last Saturday.

It will be the first time the sides have met this season with Worcester also yet to face fellow strugglers Barrow or Vauxhall Motors.

On their last two visits to Bridge Road, City drew 0-0 in September 2012 and won 5-1 in August 2011 courtesy of a Mike Symons hat-trick.

City's supporters' club are running a bus to Histon. It leaves from outside Sansome Walk swimming pool at 9.30am and costs £18. Call Keith Chambers on 07712-457698 to book.
