HEREFORD United have avoided a winding-up order after paying their outstanding tax bill.

The Bulls were due in court on Monday but have settled the £36,500 owed to HM Revenues and Customs.

A club statement said: “Following a busy week in the boardroom, the board of directors at Hereford United would like to advise supporters that funds have been secured and underwritten by the board to satisfy the winding-up petition.”

However, the Edgar Street outfit insist more hard work is needed to address the financial crisis at the club and say they need to generate an extra £10,000 a month until the end of the season.

They will also have a new tax bill to pay in the near future.
