WORCESTER City could find themselves counting the cost of seeing the Skrill North match against Stockport County fall victim to the weather.

Last Saturday’s match at Aggborough was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch, the third home game City have had called off to the elements in 2014.

But with County’s large travelling support, the Blue and Whites had been anticipating a four-figure crowd for the contest, which will now be rearranged.

Worcester were looking for their fifth win in six games, while the 15th-placed Hatters were looking to put further distance between themselves and the relegation zone.

City vice-chairman Colin Layland said: “I would rather have had it on because we are now going to end up with a Tuesday night fixture which will affect the gate and any money that will come in.

“We were expecting at least 300 to 400 from Stockport so I was expecting a gate of over 1,000.

“I doubt it very much if we will get that on a Tuesday. Tuesday is usually a bad night anyway, the last game we played it was around the 300 mark. I don’t think we’ll get that amount from Stockport on a Tuesday.

“I’m a bit disappointed but you can’t argue with the weather. There was rain coming in later on as well so it might have ended up being abandoned anyway.”
