MOEEN Ali has been rewarded for his superb form with a call-up to the England squad to tour the Caribbean and for the ICC World Twenty20 to be played in Bangladesh.
Worcestershire all-rounder Moeen is in line to win his first senior cap and the opportunity has come his way on the back of a superb 2013 season.
The left-hander, who bowls off-spin, compiled more than 2,000 runs in all forms of cricket, as well as taking 55 wickets.
He was the leading scorer in the LV=County Championship, finishing with 1,375 runs at an average of 62.50 and also made a career-best 250 against Glamorgan.
He scored three other hundreds, along with eight half-centuries, while his 6-77 against Northamptonshire in the final game of the season helped the 26-year-old take the crown of the FTI Most Valuable Player Award.
Having recently committed his long-term future to Worcestershire, Moeen reacted to his call-up with delight.
He said: "I'm going to the West Indies and the t20 World Cup! I am really pleased, not just for me but the fact that I'm in playing for Worcestershire and I'm more happy for the club."
National selector James Whitaker said:" We would like to congratulate Moeen on his selection for the tour to the Caribbean and then to represent England in the ICC World Twenty20. It is an exciting opportunity for Moeen and all the England players.
"Moeen has been a very consistent performer for Worcestershire and the club and their coaching staff must take credit for his continued progress."
"England have won the ICC World Twenty20 before - in 2010 in the Caribbean - and this group has an exciting mix of youth and Twenty20 experience and I am sure with good preparation, desire and determination they will be able to produce an exciting brand of cricket."
