HEREFORD United's match against Macclesfield Town tomorrow (3pm) takes on a double significance for the cash-strapped club.

The Bulls go into the Edgar Street clash seeking to bounce back from Monday's 3-0 loss at Woking and avoid getting sucked back into the relegation mix.

Defeat ended a five-game unbeaten run for the team, which had seen manager Martin Foyle named manager of the month.

But United also need the gate receipts from the Skrill Premier encounter against the Silkmen following yet more financial difficulties.

Although Hereford avoided a winding-up order last month, the players have only received 50 per cent of their January wages.

With the Macclesfield clash being the only home fixture scheduled for February, United are desperate for the game to beat the weather so they attempt to plug the gap.

Captain Luke Graham admits it has been tough but is trying to remain upbeat and keep his focus on climbing the table.

He said: "We are 12 points clear of the bottom four and we have to keep going up the league table.

“We have to keep fighting and working hard for each other for the next 12 weeks and doing as well as we possibly can.”

He continued: “The players have been paid every month this season until now but we have been paid only 50 per cent of January’s wages.

“The club have not paid the tax for this month or December and we fear there will be another winding-up order around the corner and a transfer embargo.

“It’s going to be touch and go – the club need to find another 50 per cent of our monthly wages and the tax.

“It’s been a bit depressing but, on a personal level, I have learned a lot."

Graham was the subject of much transfer speculation before the window closed last Friday but in the end, only midfielder Josh O'Keefe left to join Kidderminster Harriers.

The Hereford skipper said: "I think there were a few enquiries about me last week but, in my role as player, defender, captain and coach, I was not going anywhere.

“None of us are on massive wages and we only have five defenders."

Macclesfield will still harbour hopes of reaching the play-offs and have won their last two matches against Chester and Lincoln City.
