A NEW centre-half could be on board at Worcester City in time for tomorrow's Skrill North match against Stalybridge Celtic at Aggborough (3pm).
The Blue and Whites are short of options in the position following Jamie Grimes' return to Kidderminster Harriers and injuries to Richard Munday (hand) and Shabir Khan (hernia).
Manager Carl Heeley had hoped to bring in former Worcester captain Chris Smith last week but saw the deal collapse at the last minute with the 32-year-old, who left City at the end of the 2007-08 campaign, joining Halifax.
But talks are ongoing with another target and Heeley said: "We are working on a deal to bring in a centre-half before the weekend."
